Jyothi Swaroopam

For he is the formless, self luminous one - shiva. 


Shiva appears as Vishwaroopam or jyothi swaroopam in his cosmic form as an endless shaft of light as a test for Brahma and Vishnu. Whoever reaches his head or feet will be known as the greatest of the trinity. 


That glowing divine light eventually became Arunachala and every year this is celebrated as kartigai Deepavali in Thiruvannamalai.

If you look at the patterns at the bottom, it looks like the head of the bull or Nandi. The side patterns represent fire or light. As he is also
